HST16 Redundant Truss

The HST16 Redundant Truss training equipment is designed for educational institutes to investigate the principles of redundancy and aspects of safety-critical structures. The training equipment enables students to manually apply load to one end of the determinate framework with the help of a load cell and a crew thread and it helps them measure forces in the structure. The entire training equipment kit is available with tools and an instruction manual to perform the different laws of Castiglianos theorem, strain, stress, determinate & indeterminate structure, modulus of elasticity, reactions, unit load, tension and compression.

Experimental capabilities:

  • Comparison of experimental forces with theoretical values
  • View and record the effect of lack of fit of the redundant member into
  • the truss
  • Study of deflection of a truss with and without redundancy
  • Study of strains, forces and deflections in a determinate and
  • indeterminate framework
