The HTM8 Cam and follower apparatus is an educational tool used for the observation of the rise and fall of a variety of cams and followers. Different types of cam and follower are supplied with the unit to study the effect of varying form and thus compare the experimental observation with the theoretical result. It helps teachers to demonstrate a graph of follower displacement against the angular rotation of the cam.
Experimental capabilities:
- To determine a graph of follower displacement against the angular rotation of the cam
- To derive the velocity and acceleration diagrams, and determine the maximum acceleration of the follower
- To assess the effect of different cams and followers
- To compare experimental and calculated results
