Parameter monitoring of continuous loop strap for cable ties

Quality cable ties are designed in the most varied shapes with different degrees of plastic flexibility and can be used in automated applications. This is achieved by using separate dispensing devices for continuous loop straps and fastening heads. The cable tie strap is guided around the product, and a fastener head is easily attached. The width and height of the tie strap, as well as the pitch of the tooth, should be monitored during production. To reliably ensure components produced are of the highest quality, HellermannTyton GmbH uses a monitoring system by ISW GmbH. The system uses two optical precision micrometers and a triangulation sensor by Micro-Epsilon that monitors the parameters.

A combination of two ODC 2520-46 type sensors to capture the measure the height and width of the strap. The optoNCDT ILD2300-2DR series triangulation sensor captures information about tooth pitch. The acquired data can be easily analyzed with the help of an interface. With this monitoring system, reliable measurements are obtained that improves development optimization.
