The DVI/100 is a bench-top distillation pilot built in a stainless steel frame, equipped with magnetic pumps, sampling valves, 50mm glass column, a glass boiler and a glass condenser. Four temperature probes are installed at the boiler, column head, inlet, and outlet of the condenser to allow for the calculation of thermal balances. Users can control the feeding flow rate and reflux ratio to study the distillation of binary mixtures such as water-methanol.
This mini distillation pilot is also optionally available in an automated version, the DVI/300. It includes a differential pressure transmitter, flowrate transmitters and solenoid valves, allowing the users to control the operation from an electrical cabinet via a supervision touch-screen panel.
Example of experiments:
- Yield calculations
- Mass and energy balance
- Column overflow calculation
